Back At It

OK, OK. So it's been three years since I posted here. You know the story... life gets in the way. Work, extracurriculars, and yes, travel. Since the last time I posted here, I've been to Japan with friends (again), took a circumnavigation trip to celebrate a big birthday, had a relaxing couple of weeks in Uruguay, and just got back from a GAdventures tour to Uzbekistan. But every time I get back from a trip, or start talking about the next trip, I hear the same things: Where is THAT? Why are you going THERE? How do you do this by yourself? How do you afford it? So I decided to start the 'ol blog up again, to start talking about all of that. There's nothing all that extraordinary about why I travel, where I travel, or how I travel, and I think people should know that. To use a cliche, where there's a will, there's a way. If you want to travel, you should travel, you can travel. Most of the places I'm going are easier to get to than you think, they're safer than you think, and they're cheaper than you think... if you cut a few luxuries out of your plans. There are hostels with fantastic solo rooms, there are airlines giving you deals on layovers, and there are group tours that will arrange all the particulars for you so you don't have to comb through bus and train schedules or rent a car in an unfamiliar country. But there is a lot to talk about these days: wars that shut down airspaces, rising gas and airline prices, cruise ship sicknesses, and on and on. The times they are a changing in the travel world. We'll get to all of that, and maybe make a few video "listacles" to watch. I'm gonna do my best to post something at least once a week, so follow me here or on Facebook and feel free to ask questions. Let's get back at it!
